thoughtful thursday

This week I found a couple of talks that were very similar to each other. You know how you're asked to give a talk and the person before you takes half (or more) of your material? Not a good feeling. Can you imagine it happening in General Conference?!? *gasp*

I also know that when we need to know something (and aren't quite getting it/paying attention) He has no problem repeating Himself.

If we are lucky.

So it seems that it may be a tad important when two of His servants pray for guidance and inspiration as to what is most vital for us to know, and that they would both turn to a Devotional that was given over thirty years ago by Ezra Taft Benson to use as the backbone of their addresses.

Coincidence? I think not.

Elder Claudio R. M. Costa explains, "We are told that 'surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets' (Amos 3:7). We learn from this scripture that the Lord will reveal to His prophets absolutely anything that He feels is necessary to communicate to us. He will reveal His words to us, and He will instruct us through His prophets."

Elder Kevin R. Duncan gave his two cents by saying, "...we (members of the Church) have access to the source of pure truth, even God Himself. We would do well to search out answers to our problems and questions by investigating what the Lord has revealed through his prophets."

Every time I open the scriptures and my copy of October's General Conference Report I feel the Spirit confirm what I am reading and learning is true and what I need. I am so thankful for the Gospel.

These quotations go perfectly with our theme for Primary for this month! They also make me very excited for General Conference in a few weeks (or is it 2 weeks?)
