carts and kids

Guess where I was until 11:15 pm?!?

Target of all places.

At 11:15.

P.M.

I was a very happy girl. That was until I came out to my car to see that two carts had wandered through the parking lot and found a nice place to loiter about three and a half feet behind my car. I was also pushing a cart, so as I walked up to the hoodlum carts I wondered how I was going to move all of them.

I first thought that I could stack them in each other like the bag boys do at the grocery store and push them over to the receptacle. But then I thought, "those are bag boys doing that. There's no way I could push three carts like that. I haven't exercised since October."

Then I thought, "maybe I could just back out around them and not have to move them at all."

Then I laughed at myself. Even I knew that was a bad idea.

Then I laughed some more when I imagined coming home to tell my husband that the bumper we just had fixed needed to be fixed again because of two renegade shopping carts.

He'd so believe me... or not.

What I ended up doing was loading all my stuff (I mean treasures, of course) into the back of the van, pushed one cart in the right direction a little ahead of me, then grabbed the other two at the same time and herded them into the cart corral like I had been doing it my whole life. Easy as pie.

Then I thought "Well, duh! Of course that was easy! I am a mother to four kids and I have to herd them where ever we go!"

It was then that I realized that I could probably get a job collecting carts in the Target parking lot and come home a whole heck of a lot less frustrated than working a typical day on the job as Mom.

But I am one hundred percent positive it wouldn't be as rewarding.

Carts can't look this cute under the Christmas tree.

I think, in the end, you'd much rather be paid by your kids anyway...
