brilliant

So I've noticed that there are a whole bunch of "National {fill in the blank} Day"s. Like "National Crazy Sock Day" or "National Popcorn Day".

I got to thinking that some of these national days are just dumb. Who comes up with these things?

In an effort to build my self esteem I've decided to make my own National Days. Since they will really only apply to me and my family, I figure whatever the theme/topic for that day is, it will be totally applicable and relevant because *HELLO* I'm the one who chose it. Problem solved. I then will be able to pat myself on the back and say, "Self, you're a real genius making this a 'National Laundry-Free Day'".

For example: Tuesday this week would have been "National Cry-For-No-Reason-Every-Time-My-Husband-Looks/Speaks-To-Me Day". There was no reason why that was occurring, but sure was! I bet I sure scared the socks right off of that poor guy. If I had only thought of this on Monday I could have simply stated "It's National Cry-For-No-Reason-Every-Time-My-Husband-Looks/Speaks-To-Me Day", the first time he asked me what was wrong. Question answered, end of story.

Thursday was a fun one. I didn't declare it to anyone, but it was "National Cupcake-And-Mail-order-Catalogue Day. I believe I ate half a dozen cupcakes (plus or minus...ok, maybe just plus)and enjoyed perusing my new to me Ikea catalogue. Sure, I can look at the same ideas and items online, but there is just something inspiring about having a hard copy in front of me and wanting to tear out a page so I can keep it for future reference. Loved every minute of sitting, chowing, and creating new plans for our space.

Yesterday was "National Find-Some-Pants-That-Fit Day". I'm so glad the new baby is almost here. Yesterday was a tough one. I ended up having to buy a new pair of capris (wink, wink).

I will try to post what National Day it is the morning of to put everyone else on notice, but I can't guarantee it. These things just pop up throughout the day. We're going to have to roll with the punches, people.

Why hadn't I thought of this sooner?

You are hilarious, Audrey! I've had "National eat-as-much-chocolate-ice-cream-as-you-can Day" a few times a week lately. I've had it around so much that the kids don't even ask me for it anymore. The are sick of it.
