I had a chance to tap the creative side of my brain and it feels good. It's so nice when I sit down and things just click. I've been in the groove. It's good. So in an attempt to finish a scrapbooking project that I started through a on-line class at Big Picture Scrapbooking, I was reading my next assignment. I was to ask five people what they like about me. Kinda weird to put yourself out there and say, "I know you love me, but can you list the reasons please?" But I swallowed hard and left 2 short emails to close friends thinking they would understand the request.
While I was waiting for responses, I began to think of reasons why I like (or love, really) these people around me. I tried really hard to come up with person specific characteristics, not just "she's nice" or "he is funny". I was really impressed with what I came up with. It's weird how I hang and chat with the same people a lot and take for granted what they contribute to my life. Then I got a reply, and it made me feel even better. I had more bounce n my step, was slower to snap at the kids, heck, I even cooked dinner AGAIN.
So why am I dishing all this stuff here? I began thinking I should let people know how great they are (instead of nit picking and mentally dwelling on the negative). I especially think young moms need as much support and encouragement as we can get, because it is such a hard job. So I want give some food for thought today and challenge you to think of someone you love and come up with at least five person specific reasons why you love them so much. Then tell them! Leave a note, make a call, tell them face to face. It's crazy how good you'll feel, and who knows what it will do to their day.
